Canadian Prenatal Nutrition Program

CPNP is Dawson Healthy Families, Healthy Babies’ main mandate, funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).

A federally funded program, CPNP aims to improve the health of pregnant folks, new parents and their babies, in particular those who face challenges that put their health at risk. There are 9 CPNPs in the Yukon and each program is unique in services and delivery in reaching their shared mandate.

Child Development Center

This non-profit was established in 1979 and their 35 dedicated staff work with families and children all over the Yukon. They are based out of Whitehorse but do community visits every 3 months.

They work with families and community members to provide therapeutic services and to support the developmental needs of all Yukon children from birth to 5 years of age.

City of Dawson

We are fortunate to reside on Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in land where our growing community continues to work together to support our citizens, community members, families, businesses and tourists.

Dawson City is home of the Klondike Gold Rush and cultural capitol of the Yukon. This thriving community hosts a post-secondary arts school, several world-renowned festivals, large hospital, recreation centre, curling club, swimming pool, fitness centre, nine-hole golf course, off-leash dog park, and a ski hill, with a focus on mining, tourism, culture, and programming and activities that promote healthy lifestyles.

Dawson Women’s Shelter

HFHB’s sibling program, both DWS and HFHB are overseen by the Dawson Shelter Society board of directors.

The shelter provides a safe space and immediate non-judgmental, supportive listening for survivors and their allies, support, as well as advocacy, transition planning, and connections where survivors are the experts in their lives. They work with other community members to encourage skill building and celebrations to prevent violence in our community.

Family Resource Unit

Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Family Wellness Program

The Family Wellness department was created to provide direct home-based support services and supportive counselling to families and citizens in the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in community.

The Family Wellness team assists families to identify and access available services, resources, and support systems with the aim of maintaining a strong, safe, and healthy family unit.

Partners for Children (PFC)

Partners for Children is a CAPC [Community Action Program for Children], funded by PHAC since 1994. It is sponsored by the Network for Healthy Early Human Development Yukon (www.nhehdyukon.org) and operates in Whitehorse.

They aim to improve outcomes so that all children can succeed in life through learning and training opportunities that are community driven and based on the needs of the individuals and their surrounding community of support resources.
